Manhattan, Kan. - The No. 49-ranked Kansas State women's golf team is preparing for its last regular-season tournament before Colbert Hills plays host to the 2002 Big 12 Women's Golf Championship, April 19-21.

The 15-team Susie Maxwell Berning Classic will be played at the Jimmie Austin-Oklahoma Golf Course, a par-72, 6,013-yard course, April 8-9 (Monday and Tuesday), in Norman, Okla. Thirty-six of the 54 holes will be played on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The final round will be played Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m.

Last year, the Wildcats finished fourth in the 15-team field with scores of 302-300-312--914. This three-round score of 914 set an all-time 54-hole record, breaking the previous record of 926, which was set at the Chip 'N Club Invitational in 1997. The Wildcats matched their three-round score of 914 in fall 2001 at the Alltel Husker Invitational.

On Fri.-Sun., April 19-21, K-State will play host to its first women's golf conference championship since 1992 when the Big 8 Championship was played at the Manhattan Country Club.
