K-State in 12th-Place After Two Rounds at Mountain View Collegiate
TUSCON, Ariz. - After two rounds of play at the seventh annual Mountain View Collegiate, Kansas State women’s golf is in 12th-place. Sophomore Katy Heffel leads the Wildcats with a two-round total of 149 (+5). K-State totaled a 30-over-par 606 (311-295) on the 5,982-yard, par 72 Mountain View Golf Course. Leading the team scoring is Northwestern with a 7-over-par, 583 (291-292). Northwestern has a two-stroke advantage over Missouri (294-291--585) and a three-shot edge on Iowa State (291-295--586). Heffel tallied a first round 76 and did herself three shots better in the second round with a 73. The Mesa, Ariz., product carded her lowest 18-hole and 36-hole scores of the spring. The overall individual leader is Meghan Little of Louisville with a 7-under-par 137. Little holds a three-stroke lead on Lisa Meshke of Iowa State (69-71--140). Other Wildcats taking part on Saturday were: sophomore Sarah Heffel, freshman Kali Quick, sophomore Helene Robert and freshman Michelle Regan. Heffel is tied for 31st with a 6-over-par 150 (76-74). Heffel’s 74 in the second round was her lowest 18-hole score and the total of 150 was her lowest 36-hole score this spring. Quick fired a nine-over-par (81-72--153) and is tied for 49th. The score of 72 in the second round was Quick’s lowest 18-hole score this spring. Robert put together a 10-over-par 154 (78-76) for a tie for 55th. Regan is tied for 78th with a 23-over-par (85-82--167). Kansas State will look to close strong in the final round of the Mountain View Collegiate on Sunday.
