TUCSON, Ariz. Wildcat Helene Robert finished day one of the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., in a tie for third. Robert fired a field-low 2-under 70 in the second round to finish with a 1-under 143 on the day. The low round ties Robert’s career mark, which she achieved at the Ptarmigan/Ram Classic in 2004 and the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational this past fall.

Kansas State improved on their scores from previous tournaments, tying their second-lowest round of the year firing 298 on the first 18 holes. The Wildcats sit in ninth place with rounds of 298-302600, 24-over par.

Three teams fired an 18-hole score of 293, including team leader Denver, who paces the squads with rounds of 293-298591. A battle for second finds Northwestern, and Big 12 opponents Nebraska and Missouri one shot behind the leader with a 16-over 592.

Atop the individual leaderboard is Arizona’s Adriana Zwanck who fired a 3-under 141, including a first-round 69. Iowa State’s Christi Athas sits one shot behind, carding scores of 69-73142. Tied with Robert for third is Kansas’ Chelsey Pryor.

Wildcat Kali Quick is currently in a tie for 30th after carding 74-78152, 8-over par. Arizona-native Katy Heffel and Hailey Mireles shot 11-over par to land in a 10-way tie for 47th. Also for K-State, Michelle Regan is one-shot behind teammates Heffel and Mireles with a 12-over 156. Once again competing as an individual for the Cats is freshman Krista Nelson, who sits in 64th place, shooting 81-76157. Nelson’s second-round 76 marks her career-low.
