AUSTIN, Texas - Kansas State shot six strokes higher in the second round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational to drop to 15th place overall heading into the final 18 holes Sunday.

Head coach Kristi Knight said Saturday’s performance showed similarities to the struggles the team has had all year.

“We have a hard time getting more than two scores,” she said. “That’s been the story all year. When you have to count an 85 and an 87, it’s going to hurt you, but this is a demanding course and there were tougher conditions today.”

Arkansas moved into first place with a second-round 302, while the Razorbacks’ Stacy Lewis is atop the individual leaderboard with a combined 147.

Freshman Kali Quick improved to a tie for 38th with Saturday’s 76. Knight attributes Quick’s attitude change to the improvement in scores.

“She just had a much better attitude today,” Knight said. “She hit better shots and reacted better so she had a much better round.”

The Wildcats continue play at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Inviational in Austin, Texas, for the final 18 holes, which will shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
