Wildcats Eager to Compete in Miami

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Coming off a strong finish at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, the Kansas State women's golf team will travel to Miami, Fla., to compete in the Miami Invitational, March 5-6, at the par 71, 6,017-yard Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club Golf Course. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (EST) each day. "Our team is looking forward to the challenge of another event," said head coach Kristi Knight. "This will be a much different course than we played last week, and the ladies are excited about the opportunity." The scoring lineup will be led by Gianna Misenhelter and Hanna Roos, along with Whitney Pyle, Olivia Eliasson and Paige Osterloo. Ami Storey will compete as an individual. This is the first time the Wildcats will be using this scoring lineup. Misenhelter is coming off a career best 54-hole score of 214, topping a 217 at the 2011 Johnie Imes Invitational. The sophomore finished in a tie for seventh and earned her fourth top-10 finish of the season. Misenhelter was one of four Wildcats to earn career best 54-hole scores at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, joining her was Roos with 217, Pyle with 219 and Eliasson with 226. Osterloo and Storey both finished with a 54-hole score of 230. |
