Women's Golf Team to Compete in Memorial
Feb. 28, 2002 Manhattan, Kan. - The Kansas State women's golf team is set to compete in its second tournament of the spring 2002 season. The Wildcats will depart Saturday for College Station, Texas, where they will compete in the Texas A&M Verizon Memorial Tournament, a 54-hole tournament that begins with 36 holes on Monday and the remaining 18 holes on Tuesday, Freshman Sarah Heffel, sophomores Christine Boucher, Miranda Smith, and Elise Carpentier, and senior Edie Murdoch will compete for K-State in the 18-team tournament. The tournament will feature three teams ranked in the top 15 nationally by Golfstat. Ohio State is the highest-ranked team at No. 6, Northwestern is at No. 12 and Michigan State is ranked No. 15. Eight Big 12 schools will be competing in the tournament, which is held at Briarcrest Country Club. Oklahoma comes in ranked as the highest Big 12 team at 30th and Baylor is ranked 36th. Kansas State sits at 60th after one tournament into the spring season. |
