Women's Golf in Second After Two Rounds in Florida

PARRISH, Fla. -  With the weather in Manhattan preventing the team from practicing outside, the Kansas State women's golf team head to the Central District Invitational in Florida ready to play.
Kansas State junior Sarah Heffel shot rounds of 73 and 72 to lead the Wildcats at the tournament Monday.
"She was super today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "She was consistent and she stayed patient. She stayed in the present and didn't get ahead of herself."
K-State is in third place after two rounds of play, trailing Louisiana State and host Michigan State who shot combined rounds of 593 and 596, respectively. The Wildcats lead the Big 12 competition, finishing day one over sixth-place Baylor, seventh-place Texas Tech and ninth-place Texas A&M. Iowa State and Nebraska are tied for tenth.
Senior Christine Boucher is tied for 13th individually, shooting a combined 150. Freshman Helene Robert is one stroke behind Boucher, tied for 18th.
"I'm really proud of our team," Knight said. "We stayed composed and we didn't get upset with a poor shot. Considering we had only played eight holes, I think we played very well. We were very patient and I think the practice round did us well."
The Wildcats continue play at the Central District Invitational Tuesday in Parrish, Fla. For complete results of the Central District Invitational, please visit Kansas State's website at www.kstatesports.com.
