PARRISH, Fla. The Kansas State women’s golf team was unable to make up ground on the competition Tuesday as they shot a final round 317 on the par 72, 6,099-yard River Wilderness Golf Course. The Wildcats finished the two days with a three-round total of 99-over par 963, putting them in 15^th place in the spring’s first tournament.

“We played poorly,” head coach Kristi Knight said. “(It was a) combination of poor execution around and on the green, and we had hard time with competitive focus. We will be better the next time out.”

Michigan State, the host school, took home top team honors after firing a 28-over par 892 to beat second-place Texas A&M by 10 strokes. The Spartans’ Sara Brown was the tournament’s individual winner at 4-under par 212.

Senior Hailey Mireles paced the Wildcats by shooting a 22-over par 238, tying her for 48^th.

Senior Kali Quick and sophomore Abbi Sunner were right on her heels. Quick tied for 56^th after firing a 25-over par 241. Meanwhile, Sunner was a stroke back at 26-over par 242 and finishing in a tie for 58^th.

After opening Monday with a round of 90, senior Michelle Regan managed to shoot a pair of rounds in the 70s to end the tournament. She totaled a 30-over par 246 and brought home 67^th place. Sophomore Morgan Moon improved every round and was six strokes back at 36-over par 252.

K-State’s next tournament is the UNLV Spring Invitational on March 10-12 in Boulder City, Nev.
