Wildcats Jump To 11th in Baylor Shootout
March 29, 2002 Boerne, Texas - The Kansas State women's golf team shot a round of 314 Friday after shooting 333 Thursday to jump three places to 11th at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout at the par-72, 6,007-yard Tapatio Springs Resort. The No. 58-ranked Wildcats were led by senior Edie Murdoch and junior Miranda Smith who each jumped 20 spots to 31st place with rounds of 76 Friday. Murdoch and Smith finished with a two-round total of 159. Sophomore Christine Boucher fired a 77 Friday and jumped to 39th, 23 spots up from 62nd place, which she held after a first-round 84. Junior Elise Carpentier shot rounds of 83-85--168 to place 68th, and freshman Sarah Heffel placed 76th with rounds of 84-86--170. Stephanie Limoges, who made the trip to compete as an individual for K-State, placed 109th with rounds of 89-98--187. Texas Tech fired a 309-304--613 to take the title in the 20-team field. Tulane and Baylor shot 614 in the shootout to tie for second place. Wisconsin's Malinda Johnson won the individual title with an even-par performance of 144. Tulane's Carolin Landmann and Texas A&M's McKenzie Dyslin tied for second with a two-round total of 147. The Wildcats will be action Sun.-Thurs., April 7-9, when they travel to Norman, Okla., for the Susie Maxwell Classic.
