Wildcats Place Third at Equestrian Event on Saturday

Canyon, Texas - Kansas State placed third as a team on Saturday at an equestrian hunt show hosted by West Texas A&M University. The Wildcats had placed fourth as a team at a show late Friday evening.

Saturday's team standings were led by Oklahoma State, with 44 points, while West Texas A&M was second at 33 and the Wildcats were third with 31 points.

Junior Callie Smith earned first-place finishes at both shows in the beginning walk-trot-canter event to lead the K-State individual finishes. On Friday, junior Lindsey Hill won her heat in walk-trot, while senior Angie Guglielmino was first in the intermediate flat competition. Guglielmino was second and Hill was third in the same events on Saturday.

Freshman Allison Woodworth scored third-place finishes Saturday in intermediate over fences and open flat events. Also Saturday, Emily Mertz (intermediate over fences), Kati Griffin (novice flat heat), Natalie Bennett (novice flat heat) and Gretchen Reed (beginning walk-trot-canter) all placed third in their events.

On Friday, Maureen Reynolds was second in open over fences for the Wildcats, with Guglielmino in second in novice over fences.

The three-day meet wraps up with a show on Sunday.
