Nov. 2, 2010
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State equestrian team will close out the home portion of its 2010 fall schedule as it faces Big 12-rival, Oklahoma State on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m. The seventh-ranked Wildcats are riding high and are looking to pick up their fourth-straight victory as they take on fourth-ranked Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls (2-2) are coming off back-to-back losses to Baylor and Texas A&M.
K-State (4-2) has been on fire as of late, with back-to-back home victories over nationally-ranked opponents, Baylor and South Carolina. The Cats have fared well at their new facility and head coach Casie Lisabeth is excited to see how her team will handle the pressure of facing another top-shelf foe.
“This week is going to be very busy as we prepare to compete against one of the best teams in the country in a very limited amount of time,” Lisabeth said. “We have had some big success in the arena at home and hope to build on that momentum. Our team is riding great and we expect to push them harder and harder each week to prepare for the next competition and clean up the mistakes from the past ones.”
On the Western side, Kansas State will be led by sophomore Hannah Ribera. The Canyon, Texas native has rattled off four straight wins, with the last three of those coming against riders whose teams were ranked in the Top-10.
In the Hunter Seat arena, Larissa Laffey will lead the Cats into action. Laffey, is proving to be one of the squad’s most steady riders this season and will look to add to her impressive win total, which currently stands at a team-leading six.
Admission is free to the public. Friday’s competition will be the final home match until K-State begins it spring season on Feb. 26, 2011. Below is a list of Kansas State riders that will be competing against Oklahoma State.
