CHICAGO - The Kansas State english equestrian team finished day two of competition at the Northern Illinois Hunt Show with a win once again, accumulating 36 points overall. Northern Illinois came in close second with 33 points.

Senior Dehlia Burdan was the story of the day, as she tied with a rider from Southern Illinois for High Point Rider honors. After a suspenseful ride-off, Burdan ended up as the Reserve High Point Rider of the day. Overall, the team claimed eight first-place finishes. Burdan placed first in Open Over Fences A and Open Flat B, while sophomore Stephanie Bell claimed first place in Novice Fences A. In addition, five other riders placed first in their respective classes: senior Christy Conforti in Novice Flat A, junior Kristen Morrell in Walk/Trot A, senior Natalie Bennett in Intermediate Flat A, freshman Kendall Hall in Novice Flat C, and junior Megan Montgomery in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter D. Overall, the team accumulated 17 top-three finishes in day two of competition, and had 17 first place finishes in the two shows combined.

“The team did well,” assistant coach Meghan Cunningham said. “We’re coming home and we have some things that we need to work on in order to get ready for the show at home in November. But I’m pleased overall, and the team did a good job.”

The Wildcats will return to action on the weekend of November 13-14, when they host the Kansas State Hunt Show at Fox Creek Stables.
