K-State Equestrian Has Strong Showing at First Day of SMS Invite
Springfield, Mo.-The Kansas State Wildcat western equestrian team finished the first day of competition at the Southwest Missouri State Invitational in second place behind Black Hawk College (Ill.) after finishing first in three levels of competition at the meet.
The Wildcats were led by Macie Ayres who finished first in the Intermediate II portion of the show. Other first place finishers for K-State were Kristie Schneider and Katie Myers, who both won individual awards at the Beginner level. Kansas State continued its' strong riding with six second-place finishes. In the Open-Horsemanship show, Erin Perry rode to a second place finish while Elaine Cobb (Novice), Amaris Holland (Intermediate I), Kristin Tanney (Advanced I), Andrea Wosel (Intermediate II) and Nicole Ruff (Reining) also finished the first day in second place. The SMS Invitational will conclude on Sunday, October 12, with the second-half of the Western show. After the invitational, the Wildcats will continue its fall portion of the schedule at the Southern Illinois University Invitational on October 24. |
