KIRKSVILLE, Mo. The Kansas State women’s equestrian team finished up competition on Sunday at Truman State University with its second straight convincing win as the Wildcats were the High Point Team with 37 points, 11 points better than second place Black Hawk. Missouri State finished third with 15 points.
Sophomore Lindsey Salsbury had a strong performance as she was the High Point rider of the day. Also Junior Sara Weller was the Reserve High Point Rider and the team accumulated seven first place finishes for the day. Notching wins in their respective classes were Sara Weller in Class 1 Reigning, Gina Remus in Class 2 Intermediate 1, Lindsey Salsbury in Class 3 Open Horsemanship, Michelle Schneider in Class 5 Novice, Megan Montgomery in Class 6 Intermediate II, Heather Culwell in Class 8 Beginner and Kara Taddiken in Class 12 Novice.
“We had a very good day today and could not have asked for anything more from our girls,” head coach Teresa Slough said. “We extended our lead over Black Hawk College in the regional standings to 21 points and that is a great start to the season. We certainly have things to correct and work on, but certainly, this is a great start to the season.”
Kansas State’s next competition will be next week on October 1, when they open up the home season with a Varsity combined show at Fox Creek Stables, against South Dakota State.
