MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State equestrian head coach Casie Lisabeth announced on Thursday the addition of Anna Schierholz to her coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2012-13 season. Schierholz will lead the Wildcats’ Hunt Seat program.

“I am thrilled to have Anna Schierholz join our staff for the 2012-13 season,” stated Lisabeth on the addition. “She has excellent knowledge and experience in the industry, as well as great experience coaching riders at the top levels. Coming from Auburn’s historically competitive team, I believe Anna can relay those experiences to our team and help take out Hunter Seat program to the next level.”

Schierholz, originally from St. Louis, Mo., joins the Wildcats after spending the last year as the head trainer at Clouds End Farm in Wildwood, Mo. She also served as a trainer with Griffin Farm in Wentzville, Mo.

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to coach at Kansas State,” said Schierholz. “The Wildcat family has been so welcoming, and I am looking forward to working with Coach Lisabeth and the equestrian team, as well as within the Big 12 Conference. K-State is such a prestigious university with an athletic department steeped in rich tradition, and I am grateful to be a part of it and help foster the growth of the NCEA and the equestrian sport."

During her career four-year career at Auburn, Schierholz helped the Tigers win both the VENC Overall national title and the VENC Hunt Seat national title in 2011. She also helped Auburn to the VENC Hunt Seat national crown in 2008. At the conclusion of the 2011 season, Schierholz earned honorable mention All-American honors.

As a Tiger, Schierholz achieved an overall record in Equitation over Fences of 29-11 and tallied six MVP honors and in Equitation on the Flat she notched a 6-1 mark and two MVP citations.

She was also an outstanding student during her time at Auburn, as she was named to the SEC Honor Roll and garnered the Top Tiger Academic Award in all four of her seasons of competition. Schierholz graduated cum laude in the spring of 2011 with a degree in journalism.

K-State’s Hunt Seat squad finished sixth at the 2012 National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championships. The Wildcats finished the season with a record of 7-5-5 in Hunt Seat action. K-State will enter the season with senior Meredith Finch leading the way in the Hunt Seat arena. Finsh concluded her season with 12 victories and registered an undefeated record at the NCEA National Championships on her way to Most Outstanding Player honors in Equitation on the Flat.
