MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State equestrian team will hold a mandatory informative meeting August 24 for those interested in trying out for the team. The meeting will take place Monday, August 24, at 6 p.m. in Weber Hall, Room 123.
The coaching staff will explain the tryout procedures and expectations, while each prospective student-athlete will fill out paperwork and officially sign up for tryouts. This meeting is MANDATORY for those interested in trying out for the team.
If an interested rider cannot make the meeting because of a class conflict, they need to contact head coach Casie Williamson at email@example.com prior to August 24th to make arrangements.
Those interested should also being their fall class schedules and proof of insurance to the meeting. Those enrolled as a full time student (12 hours or more) prior to Fall 2005 are not eligible to participate in try-outs due to NCAA by-laws.
All interested riders, with the exception of those student-athletes who were on the team last year and have been named to the returner list, will need to participate in the tryouts.
The final team roster will be announced no later than Thursday, August 27. Once the final roster is announced, all riders will be required to pass a fitness test before they can participate in practice

What do I need to bring?
Horses, tack, and equipment will be provided by the Equestrian Team. You can bring your own spurs, and the coaching staff will let you know whether or not they can be used depending on the horse you are riding.
What do I need to wear?
Western: jeans without a flare, boots with a heel, and a properly fitted top.
Hunter Seat: boots, breeches, and a properly fitted top preferred. If you do not have boots and breeches you may wear jeans without a flare and boots with a heel. Helmets must be ASTM/SEI certified. If you do not have your own approved helmet, the team will provide one for you.
How many people make the team from try-outs?
The number of walk-on athletes we add varies from year to year depending on how many members we already have on our roster.
How long are try-outs?
The riding portion of your try-out will last no longer than one hour.
