Wildcats Compete in Day Two of IHSA Championship

Harrisburg, P.A. In day two of competition at the IHSA National Championship, the Kansas State women’s equestrian English team finished in 11th place overall against some of the top Equestrian programs in the nation.

In the English team category, K-State had two top ten finishers, Macie Ayers and Gentry Horigan. Individually K-State had three top ten finishers, Lindsay Cook, Stephanie Bell and Lianna Bodlack. In Western, the Cats had one top ten finisher Claire Leet.

Junior Casey Finnell competed in the USEF/Cacchione Cup for top English honors. In Phase one of the competition Casey finished with a score of 79.5. In phase two she finished with 71.5 points for a total of 151 points and a 20th place finish.

“We rode fine today. We didn’t make any major mistakes but in this caliber of competition you need a little luck on your side and you need to have some things go your well,” head coach Teresa Slough said. The classes are big and there are a lot of riders. We had some riders acknowledged and some were overlooked and that is how it goes sometimes.”

With over half of the English classes completed and half of the Western shows completed, Kansas State will wrap up competition on Saturday and Sunday.

Results from tomorrow’s show will be available online at kstatesports.com as they become available.
