Varsity Equestrian Championships to be televised on June 5
AMARILLO, Texas -- The 2005 Varsity Equestrian Championships will be featured on America’s Horse,’ the American Quarter Horse Association’s award-winning weekly television show on TVG Network on June 5. Grab a seat for the Varsity Equestrian Championships held at Santa Fe, N.M. where teams from several conferences battled in Western and English disciplines for the national title. Learn firsthand what drives the equestrians who have their sights set on future championships and maybe a gold medal. America’s Horse’ will feature the Varsity Equestrian Championships on the June 5 episode at 11:30 a.m. Eastern/8:30 a.m. Pacific and again June 12 at 11 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Pacific. Kansas State tied Fresno State for fifth place overall at the Varsity Championships with 33 points. The Wildcats finished fifth in the Western team standings with 15 points, while the English squad tallied a seventh-place finish with 18 points. South Carolina won the national title with 60 total points. Several Kansas State riders performed well, as Sheena Linders won section 4 of the Equitation on the Flat, while Melissa Becking finished as the runner-up in section 4 of Horsemanship. In all, six riders finished among the top 5 in their respective event.
