MANHATTAN, Kan. - Select members of the Kansas State equestrian team will be competing in the english and western Zone 7 Competition Sunday at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. The english show begins at 9 a.m., directly followed by the western show.

To qualify for zone competition, riders had to place in the top three in their class at Regional 2 Competition.

Representing the western team are junior Amber Everhart (beginner horsemanship), sophomore Jessica Gittleman (beginner horsemanship), senior Kelly Gratny (open reining) and freshman Brandi Vogel (advanced II horsemanship).

Sophomore Stephanie Angalet (walk/trot), senior Angie Guglielmino (intermediate flat) and sophomore Kelli Wilson (advanced walk/trot/canter) will be showing for the english team.

"We are looking forward to competing this Sunday," said head coach, Lindsay Breidenthal. "The girls have been training very hard and we expect great things out of them. We have the upmost confidence that the ladies are going to show well and qualify for National Competition."

The top-two places in each class on Sunday will advance to national competition in Syracuse, N.Y. on May 2-5.

Western Qualifiers
Amber Everhart (beginner horsemanship) - Jr. - Topeka, Kan. (Seaman HS) - Earned her first first-place trophy of the season at regional competition (3/9/02), Two top-three finishes, Placed second at the Texas A&M Show (11/10/01).
Jessica Gittleman (beginner horsemanship) - So. - Fanwood, N.J. (Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS) - Best finishes were third places (Texas A&M - 11/11/01 and regional competition - 3/9/02), Three top-three finishes.
Kelly Gratny (open reining) - Sr. - Leavenworth, Kan. (Tongaxoxie HS) - Earned three first-place trophies (most recent came at West Texas A&M - 2/24/02), Had five top-three finishes, Placed second at regional competition (3/9/02).
Brandi Vogel (open reining) - So. - Lenexa, Kan. (Shawnee Mission West HS) - Four first-place medals (most first-place trophies on the team), Placed third at regional competition (3/9/02).

English Qualifiers
Stephanie Angalet (walk/trot) - Jr. - Louisburg, Kan. (Louisburg HS) - Placed first once and second four times, Six top-three finishes, Earned a second place at regional competition (3/9/02).
Angie Guglielmino (intermediate flat) - Sr. - Kansas City, Mo. (Shawnee Mission North HS) - Placed first twice and second three times, Six top-three finishes, Earned a third place medal at regional competition (3/9/02).
Kelli Wilson (advanced walk/trot/canter) - So. - Colby, Kan. (Colby HS) - Achieved her best placing of the season a second place at regional competition (3/9/02), Five top-three finishes.
