Equestrian Heads to Fresno for Head-to-Head Competition

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State equestrian team returns to action this week as it travels to Fresno, Calif., for the Fresno State Head-to-Head competition on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18. The Wildcats will send 10 English riders and 11 Western riders to the dual match this weekend. Friday’s English show will start at 2 p.m., while Saturday’s Western show will begin at 3 p.m.

This is the first time K-State has faced the Fresno State Bulldogs. The last time the Wildcats competed in a Varsity Head-to-Head match was, October 1, 2005, against South Dakota State where the Wildcats were the High Point Team racking up 170 total points, the opposition finished with 88 points.

“For several of our riders, this will be a new format and we may need to adjust,” head coach Teresa Slough said. “In our region we don’t get that much Varsity competition experience and this weekend will be a very good opportunity for us to prepare for Zones and the Varsity championships.”

Results from the weekend will be available online at kstatesports.com as they come available.
