MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State women’s equestrian team won with ease on Saturday, wrapping up its final competition of the regular season in style with wins in both the morning and afternoon shows at Fox Creek Stables.

K-State was the High Point Team with 32 points in the morning show, edging out Reserve High Point Team Black Hawk College, which tallied 28 points.

“Today we rode well. We do have some things to fix before the post season,” head coach Teresa Slough said. “By winning our region we received an automatic bid into our Zone Regional competition in the Western category, and I am very happy about that.”

Lindsey Salsbury was the High Point Rider, whie the Reserve High Point Rider finished in a three way tie between Lindsey Hicks, Sara Weller and Shanda Draper.

In the afternoon show K-State was again the High Point Team, followed by Missouri State as the Reserve High Point Team.

Shanda Draper and Lindsey Salsbury tied for High Point Riders while Sara Weller was the Reserve High Point rider.

Kansas State totaled 16 first-place finishers between the two shows, including Shanda Draper (twice) in Reining Section A, Lindsey Salsbury in Reining Section B and Open Horsemanship Section A, Valerie Meyer in Novice Horsemanship Section A, Dana Totten in Advanced Horsemanship Section A and B, Camille Thibault in Intermediate I Horsemanship Section A, Erin Paulsen in Intermediate II Horsemanship Section B, Emily Wolfe (twice) in Beginner Horsemanship Section B, Sarah Haltom in Novice Horsemanship Section C, Dennon Zimbelamn in Open Horsemanship Section  A and Reining Section A, Jana Lechtenberg in Open Horsemanship Section B, Katie Steinle in Intermediate Horsemanship Section B.

The Wildcats next competition will be March 11, when K-State will hosts the IHSA Regional Qualifying Competition at Fox Creek Stables.
