MANHATTAN, Kan. - Timbercreek Stables will be the site for a battle of top-10 teams on Saturday as eighth-ranked Kansas State hosts top-ranked Texas A&M in the first of three straight home contests for the Wildcats.
This weekend's matchup, which begins at 10 a.m. and is free to the public, marks the ninth time this season that K-State will have faced an opponent ranked among the nation's top 10, including the fourth in Manhattan. The Wildcats are currently 2-1 at home against opponents who are in the latest VENC Coach's Top 10 poll.
Although K-State (4-6) was downed by Texas A&M (8-0) in its last meeting on November 20, Wildcat head coach Casie Lisabeth sees Saturday's dual as an opportunity for her squad to pull in the reins on its current four-match skid and challenge the nation's best team.
"This upcoming competition marks another difficult step in our schedule that will help our team better prepare to move into the postseason," said Lisabeth. "Texas A&M is undefeated this season and has a lot of experience and depth in its roster. Our team has been riding really well and we saw great improvement against Oklahoma State and hope to show that again this weekend."
On the Western side, freshman Kelly Bovaird will try to lead the Wildcats over the undefeated Aggies. The Tulsa, Okla., native currently has six wins on the season, which is tops on the Western squad.
In English action, fellow freshman Jacquelyn Bogstad will try to pick up her fourth consecutive victory in Equitation on the Flat. Bogstad is currently 6-4 on the year, with five of those victories coming against top-10 teams.
Results from Saturday's competition will be available at k-statesports.com. Below is a list of riders that will compete for K-State.
