K-State Equestrian to Host Two Western Shows on Saturday


 

 
 

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State equestrian team will host two Western Shows this weekend at Fox Creek Stables, both of which will be held on Saturday, February 25 starting at 8 a.m. The Wildcats will have 30 riders competing in the morning show and 31 riders competing in the afternoon show.

 

The Wildcats will be one of eight teams riding this weekend .They will be competing against Missouri State, Blackhawk College, Iowa State, Illinois State, Truman State, Northwest Missouri State and Southern Illinois.

 

“This weekend what I hope to see is an increase in our region; we would like to finish strong,” head coach Teresa Slough said. “I would also like to see those riding in the postseason to ride strong this weekend.”

 

Western Showdowns

The Wildcats have fared well in Western Shows this season. They have posted six, first place finishes and one, second place finish. Some of the riders who excelled in those shows were, Lindsey Salsbury who has been the Reserve High Point Rider twice and High Point Rider once this season. She was the Reserve High point rider in the Black Hawk Western Show (Nov.19-20), and the K-State Western Show (Oct. 1). Sara Weller won the Reserve High Point Rider award at the K-State Western Show (Oct. 1). At the Missouri State Western Show (Oct. 22), Shanda Draper won top honors as the High Point Rider. Also Lindsey Hicks won High Point Rider at the Black Hawk Show (Nov 19-20).

 

The Wildcats will be hosting the IHSA Regional Competition next month on March 11 and 12 at Fox Creek Stables.
