ST. LOUIS, Mo. The Kansas State english equestrian team started the weekend strong by winning High Point Team honors on day one of competition.  But the team struggled to find the same success on Sunday, and finished in second place with 38 points.  Washington University won High Point Team honors after finishing with 41 points. 

Even though the team didn’t place first on Sunday, Kansas State still had five individual first place finishes.  The riders who finished first in their respective classes are as follows: senior Sarah Waxman in Open Fences A, senior Allison Woodworth in Open Flat A, senior Natalie Poholsky in Novice Flat A, freshman Lindsey Morford in Walk/Trot B and freshman Lindsay Cook in Walk/Trot/Canter D.  In addition, four riders placed second in their respective classes.  Those riders are as follows: senior Dehlia Burdan in Open Fences A and Open Flat A, sophomore Heather Chatham in Open Fences B, sophomore Gentry Horigan in Intermediate Fences A and senior Christy Conforti in Novice Flat D. 

“Several riders did a good job today, and some riders also made mistakes,” head coach Teresa Slough said.  “Now we know what we need to work on in preparation for postseason competition.”

The Wildcats will return to action March 5-6, when the western team travels to Southwest Missouri State for competition.
