Equestrian Begins Spring Season at Oklahoma State
The head-to-head match will feature Varsity and J.V. riders competing in English and Western styles. English will send 13 riders and Western will have 15 riders compete.

On the English side, K-State’s squad in Equitation over Fences will consist of senior Whitney Snyder, who is 10-2 on the season and leads the Wildcats in individual wins, junior Leslie Yates, who is 7-5, sophomore Kendall Marvin, sophomore Ashley Collett, who is 3-0 on the year, sophomore Paige Sullivan and sophomore Bridget Doyle, who is looking for her first varsity victory.
In Equitation on the Flat the Wildcats will display Snyder, Yates, Marvin, freshman Julie Wolfert, junior Jennifer Giraldin, who is 4-2 and junior Katie Mellon, who is also looking for her first varsity win of the season.
“The entire western squad is geared up for OSU this weekend,” Western head coach Casie Williamson said. “They are the only team who is still undefeated, so we have worked really hard to perfect our riding and not leave anything out. OSU has a strong western team, so we know that we need to be at the top of our game this weekend and there is no room for anyone to make mistakes.”
In Western, K-State’s Horsemanship team will include sophomore Laura Browne, who brings in a record of 4-1-1 with one MVP award, sophomore Courtney Watters, who is 3-3, junior Jana Lechtenberg, who is 3-2-1 with one MVP award, junior Alyssa Freeman, sporting a 9-3 record with two MVP awards, senior Lindsey Salsbury, who holds a 4-1 record and sophomore Mikaela Sundgren who is searching for her first varsity win.
K-State’s Reining squad will send a young but talented team of sophomore Morgan Campbell, who is 4-2 with two MVP awards, sophomore Dani Pettera, sporting a 4-2 record with one MVP award, sophomore Kaylee Stout, who is 3-3 with one MVP award in Reining, freshman Alecia Zimbelman, who holds a record of 4-1-1 and making her Wildcat debut is sophomore Tara Hallen, a sophomore from New Braunsfels, Texas.
Saturday’s show will also feature eight riders performing in J.V. competition, including junior Paige Kovari and sophomore Jessica Hensley in Equitation on the Flat. In the Equitation over Fences portion of the show, K-State will send sophomore Elizabeth Godfrey and freshman Jennifer Rawle. J.V. Reining will feature sophomore Dana Johnson and J.V. Horsemanship will send freshman Sierra Frederick, sophomore Josie Kness and junior Hayley Milch.
“It is certainly hard to go up against an undefeated team at home, but we have beat them before,” Williamson said. “I am counting on the girls to be as confident as they were last semester and have confidence in themselves and their teammates.”
