MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State equestrian team will begin the spring season this weekend with a Big 8 Western Tournament in College Station, Texas. The Wildcats will compete in shows on Friday and Saturday with both beginning at 8 a.m. at Texas A&M
The Wildcats will be competing against Texas A&M, Baylor, Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma State, Fresno State and New Mexico State. This is the first time that K-State has faced any of these schools in competition this season. The tournament also includes a new format that these schools have not competed in yet. It is a bracket tournament with a double elimination format and will be used in the IHSA National competition at the end of the year.
“This weekend we don’t know what to expect, because we haven’t faced any of these teams yet this year,” head coach Teresa Slough said. “The new bracket format for competition is not only new for us but for all the schools competing this weekend. This new bracket will be used during the national tournament at the end of the year.”
Results from the weekend will be available online at k-statesports.com as they come available.
