Rue Leads K-State Equestrian Team to Hunt-Show Victory

Stillwater, Okla. - Kansas State senior Kristy Rue was the high-point rider to lift the Wildcats to victory on Saturday in a collegiate equestrian hunt show hosted by Oklahoma State University. The Wildcats finished with 29 points to outscore Texas A&M with 27 and Oklahoma State with 20. Eight collegiate teams scored points in the event. Rue, from Leavenworth, Kan., won competitions in both intermediate fences and intermediate flat on Saturday. She was also the high-point rider in the Wildcats' most recent show at West Texas A&M on Nov. 18. Sarah Waxman also earned a first-place in an intermediate flat heat, while Jacquie Griffin won her heat in novice flat for the Wildcats. Emily Mertz was second behind Rue in intermediate fences, while Angie Guglielmino (intermediate flat) and Callie Smith (beginning walk-trot-canter) also earned second-place finishes for Kansas State. Dehlia Burden was third in open fences, Allison Woodworth was third in open flat and Gretchen Reid was third at beginning walk-trot-canter for the Wildcats. Kansas State completes its fall schedule with another hunt show on Sunday at Oklahoma State. --ksu-- |
