K-State Western Equestrian Team Places First At West Texas A&M
Three more Kansas State western equestrian riders qualified for Regional Competition Saturday afternoon in the first of two shows hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas. K-State finished first with 26 points, followed closely by Oklahoma State (25), Texas A&M (24), and West Texas A&M (18).
Amber Everhart (beginner horsemanship), Kelly Gratny (open reining and open horsemanship) and Brandi Vogel (advanced II horsemanship) joined Jessica Gittleman (beginning horsemanship) as qualifiers for the Regional Competition in Canyon, Tex. on March 9th. Wildcats finishing with first-place trophies were Darcy Ferguson (advanced I horsemanship), Gittleman (intermediate I horsemanship), Kristin Tanney (advanced II horsemanship), Vogel (advanced II horsemanship) and Haley Wilson (beginner horsemanship). Amber Fox (beginner horsemanship), Gratny (open reining), Megan Hemberger (intermediate I horsemanship) and Beth Jones (intermediate II horsemanship) posted second-place finishes. The final show begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at the West Texas A&M University Horse Center in Canyon, Texas.
