Wildcat Equestrian Team Fourth, Third in Weekend Shows

Stillwater, Okla. - Kansas State placed fourth on Saturday and third on Sunday in a pair of collegiate women's equestrian western shows hosted last weekend by Oklahoma State.

The Wildcats had 17 points on Saturday, trailing West Texas A&M (25), Oklahoma State (20) and Texas A&M (18).

K-State improved its standing on Sunday, as its 18 points trailed only the host Cowgirls (31) and Texas A&M (25).

Sophomore Brandi Vogel won the Advanced II class on Saturday, with senior Kelly Gratny winning the Reining competition for the Wildcats. Earning seconds for K-State were Amanda Gigot (Open Horsemanship), along with Erin Rees and Beth Jones in separate sections of Intermediate II competition. Kara Nielsen was third in Advanced I on Saturday.

Sophomore Bev Wilson won the Intermediate I division on Sunday, with Rees, a freshman, winning Intermediate II. Nielsen and Vogel picked up seconds in Advanced I and Advanced II, respectively, while Beth Jones was third in a section of Intermediate II.

Kansas State competes in a pair of English shows on Feb. 16 and 17 at Texas A&M.
