Equestrian to Kick off 2012-13 with Purple-White Scrimmage

K-State hosts second annual scrimmage

Kansas State equestrian head coach Casie Lisabeth announced on August 18 the addition of Lydia Placzek to her coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2012-13 season. Placzek will work with the Wildcats' Western program.

"I am very excited to have Lydia join our staff here at Kansas State," said Lisabeth about the addition of Placzek. "She was very successful as a rider in the NCEA format and is anxious to transition her experiences into a coaching career. I am confident that she will work hard to help accelerate our program and will be a great asset to our staff."

Placzek, a native of Kearney, Neb., joins the Wildcats after spending last season as a graduate assistant on the coaching staff of Megan Rossiter at South Dakota State. Placzek is ready to get K-State's 2012-13 season started and to begin her coaching career with the Wildcats.

"I'm very pleased to join such a successful equestrian program within the Big 12. I look forward to working hard with the coaching staff and student-athletes toward the ultimate goal of bringing home a championship to Kansas State. I'd like to thank the coaching staff and athletic department for this wonderful opportunity."

While at South Dakota State as a student-athlete, Placzek was a four-year letterwinner who notched an outstanding equestrian career. During her four-year career with the Jackrabbits, Placzek advanced to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championships twice with the Western squad in 2009 and 2010 and as an individual as a freshman in 2008.

Prior to graduating in 2011 with a degree in agricultural business, Placzek finished her final season of eligibility in 2010-11 with a record of 4-3 in reining. During the 2009-10 season, Placzek posted a perfect 6-0 record including a pair of MVP efforts on her way to helping the Jackrabbits to the NCEA National Championships.
