No. 5 Kansas State Defeats Washburn In Exhibition Play

MANHATTAN, Kan. Four players scored in double figures as the preseason fifth-ranked Kansas State women’s basketball team defeated Division II Washburn, 73-51, in exhibition play Wednesday night before a crowd of 8,433 in Bramlage Coliseum.

 

Senior All-American Nicole Ohlde led all scorers with 16 points, while junior All-American Kendra Wecker had 14. Junior Laurie Koehn added 12 points connecting on four of the team’s eight three-pointers on the night.

 

Kansas State went on a 16-4 scoring run in the opening minutes of the contest and never looked back. Freshman Twiggy McIntyre rounded out the top scorers for K-State with 11 points going 4-of-6 from the field.

 

The Lady Blues were held to 33 percent shooting from the floor, while K-State dominated the boards with 39 rebounds, 10 of which came from the contribution of junior Megan Mahoney.

 

The Wildcats will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 9, with a home exhibition matchup versus Sparta Praha at 2 p.m.
