Texas Southern at Kansas State
Kansas State Coach and Player Quotes

Head Coach Deb Patterson
Opening Statement…
“It was an exciting first round game for us to watch Brittany (Chambers) set all kinds of records and come out with an extraordinary offensive performance. I like the assist numbers on the night. I felt like we got into a great flow. You could really just see that Brittany Chambers was at her offensive best tonight. She scored in a variety of ways and just had a beautiful stroke.”

On Brittany’s performance…
“This is just absolutely right near the very top, if not the top. At one point during the game Shalee (Lehning) turned to me and goes “this has to be the best offensive game you have ever seen someone at K-State play.” It just has to be right up there with the very best ones which I do not remember because this one was so good.”

On team’s high energy…
“I think we did. With a long layoff and we were just a little bit concerned but we made that just something that was a priority. Let us take the floor and let us bring great energy right from the get-go. The game began to take care of itself. If you can do that and we did. I thought again the aggressiveness that Brittany brought right from the very first shot helped establish confidence and a tempo that we could play with all night long.”

Senior Guard Brittany Chambers
On if she realized what she was doing…
“I think that I am always kind of aware of my points. I think I am just one of those players. I do not think that I get lost in the points. I did not realize that I was getting that many in the first half until I looked up at the last shot. At halftime, my teammates are dorks and they were saying all this crazy stuff. We are just trying to take care of business at this point. We are very fortunate to still be here, so we are taking the advantage being on the court and getting another opportunity.”
On if she was in the zone…
“For sure. Sometimes you can tell right away how you feel shooting. I felt terrible in warm-ups actually, but that is a good sign for me sometimes. It was good.”

On trying to break Laurie Koehn’s three-point record…
“My teammates are so selfless. Mariah White was running all over the place trying to get me a screen. That just shows the kind of person and teammate she is, trying to get me to be my best, and she that is what she has done my whole career. She is a huge reason why I have any of the records that I have. It is because she plays the way she does. It was pretty funny watching her be like that, but it just shows the type of player and teammate she is.”
