Wildcats in Seventh After 36 Holes
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - For the second-consecutive week, a true freshman leads the Wildcats after 36 holes, as Joe Ida paced the Wildcats on day one at the Wolverine Intercollegiate. K-State is in seventh at 7-over par 575 (287-288), only seven strokes out of second place. Wisconsin is the leader going into the final round following a 4-under par 564 (285-279) performance on day one. Head coach Tim Norris says that he is looking for an improved final round from his squad. "It was a good day for scoring, but we were just one score short," said Norris. "We are in good position for tomorrow and I look forward to a strong last round." Individually, Oregon State's Mitch Gillis is the leader after firing a 7-under par 135 (65-70) through the first two rounds. Ida, a freshman from Ft. Yonke and Ida qualified as the No. 3 and No. 4 Wildcat golfers heading into this weekend's event. "The play of Joe and Kyle has kept us in it," said Norris.
