Men's Golf Team to Assist with Million Dollar Hole-in-One


 

 
 

MANHATTAN, Kan, -- The Kansas State men's golf team, which opens its 2003-04 season on Sept. 12-14 in Madison, Wis., at the Badger Invitational, will be assisting with The First Tee Million Dollar Hole-in-One prior to Saturday's McNeese State vs. Kansas State football game.

 

The First Tee Million Dollar Hole-in-One debuted prior to K-State's home opener last week vs. Troy State.

 

The final two (2) preliminary rounds of The First Tee Million Dollar Hole-in-One presented by the Mid America Sports Network will continue Friday and Saturday at the K-State Recreational Complex. The top 10 qualifiers each day will advance to the semi-finals and finals held on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Colbert Hills.

 

The event will take place from 10 a.m. ­ 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. ­ 5 p.m. on GameDay Saturday. Anyone can compete for just $1 per ball, $5 for 6 balls, $10 for 12 balls, or $20 for 30 balls.

 

Hundreds of dollars in daily and instant prizes will be given away. On Friday from 11 a.m. ­ 2 p.m., any donation of $5 or more will receive a free Chipotle burrito and four (4) free Million Dollar play passes.

 

The preliminary round is set up for 100 yards. The first hole-in-one in the preliminary round wins $250 cash donated by of Z96.3 FM and B104.7 FM. Currently, the closest shot is 0' 4 ' by Nick Schultz of Manhattan.

 

Half of the semi-finalist field is complete for Saturday, Sept. 13th.  Each semi-finalist will get three (3) attempts from 150 yards, with a Hole-in-One they can win a $25,000 new car from Little Apple Toyota/Honda, a $10,000 shopping spree at Manhattan Town Center, and a $5,000 shopping spree in Aggieville, respectively.

 

The closest six (6) individual shots in the semi-finalist round will advance to shoot one shot for a chance to win $2,000,000 with a Hole-in-One!  They will receive $1,000,000 personally with the other $1,000,000 being donated to the local First Tee Manhattan chapter in their name.

 

The event proceeds will benefit the KSU Earl Woods First Tee Youth Programs. The First Tee chapter of Manhattan, Kan., is open to any young person between the ages of 6-17 years old.  Youth will experience Life Skills training, leadership development, and golf instruction.  The Manhattan chapter benefits over 300 local participants annually and hosts The First Tee National Life Skills and Leadership Academy at Colbert Hills each summer.
