MANHATTAN, Kan. - In a record-setting performance, former Kansas State golfer Robert Streb captured his first PGA Tour win as he cruised to victory at the 2012 Mylan Classic at the Southpointe Country Club in Canonsburg, Pa., on Sunday.
Streb's Web.com season earnings now sit at $253,491, which is more than enough to secure a spot in the tour's top-25 at the end of the year. The 25 leading money winners will earn their PGA Tour card for 2013.
A rookie on the Web.com Tour, Streb carded a 7-under 64 in final round action to push his weekend score to a tournament-record 18-under 266, winning this weekend's event by four strokes.
Streb, who lettered at K-State from 2006-09, began Sunday's action one shot behind veteran Cliff Kresge but with the help of three birdies on the first six holes of the day and three birdies on the back nine, Streb was able to coast to his first win on the Web.com Tour in 20 tries.
The next stop for Streb and the rest of the Web.com Tour will be on September 13-16 as the Hillcrest Country Club in Bosie, Id., will host the 2012 Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft.
