MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State men's golfer Ben Juffer was able to secure a tie for third place in two Iowa tournaments last weekend at the Herman Sani Invitational at Hyperion Field Club and the 2010 US Amateur Qualifier at Briarwood Club of Ankeny.
At the Herman Sani Invitational, held August 6-8, Juffer carded a 7-under par 209 over three rounds of play to find himself in a tie for third place with Nate McCoy at the conclusion of the tournament. The two golfers shared the distinction of low amateur in the field.
Playing in his second tournament and fourth-straight day of competition, Juffer shot a 6-under par 138 over two rounds, including a blistering 4-under par over the last nine holes, at the US Amateur Qualifier to also tie for third. The top two finishers at the qualifier earned an entry into the Amateur field, while Juffer was able to win a three-way playoff for the first alternate spot should one become available.
