MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State men's golf team was one of 80 NCAA Division I programs honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as the organization released its 2013 team academic awards. This year's accolade marks the third-straight season the Wildcats have be honored by the GCAA, which began recognizing teams for their academic performance following the 2008-09 school year.

K-State was one of 143 teams from all three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and NJCAA to earn recognition from the GCAA, which honors teams with a 3.0 GPA and above. The Wildcats posted a team GPA of 3.39 during the 2012-13 academic year, including a pair of 4.0 performances from juniors David Klaudt and Daniel Wood.

"It is a part of our team culture that we place a high priority on academics and our team has done another great job in the classroom this past year," said head coach Tim Norris. "With the sport that we compete in - where we play in the fall and the spring and with the number of class days that we miss - I think that is exceptional.

"It is a partnership, not only with our players, but with Jaime Hamor, our academic advisor, who does such a good job of setting each player up for success and being able to help them navigate through their schedules."

Since Norris' first season at K-State during the 1997-98 season, K-State has had 45 Academic All-Big 12 performers, including Kyle Weldon, Daniel Wood and Curtis Yonke (first team) and Ben Juffer (second team) in 2012-13.
