Three K-state Golfers Named to the 2002 Academic All-Big 12 Team
April 23, 2002 MANHATTAN, Kan. - Three members of the Kansas State men's golf team were named to the 2002 Golf Academic All-Big 12 Teams as announced by the conference office today. Seniors Scott McNeely and Matt Williams were named to the first team, while junior Mark Sprecker was named to the second team. McNeely's first-team honor was the marketing major's fourth straight in his four years at K-State. Williams, who is earning his master's degree in business administration, was named to the to first team for the third consecutive year, and Sprecker, a finance major, made his first appearance on the second team. K-State's three golfers were part of the 30 student-athletes who were named to the team. The honorees are nominated by each school's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point average, while the second-team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA. The Wildcats return to action on April 29-30 at the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. Kansas State tees off at 8:50 a.m. on Monday with playing partners Missouri and Texas Tech. |
