Wildcats Tee it Up at Mizzou Intercollegiate
MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State men's golf team travels to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the COG Mizzou Intercollegiate, Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13. The event tees off Monday with a 36-hole shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. (CST). On Tuesday, the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. (CST) with another shotgun start. An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the final round.
LOOK AT THE FIELD: The 15-team field includes Ball State, Belmont, Creighton, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Saint Mary's, South Dakota State, Wyoming and IUPUI.
LAST TIME OUT: Senior Mitchell Gregson improved nine spots in the final round to tie for 14th at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. The strong performance by Gregson was not enough to help Kansas State move up the leader board, however, as the Wildcats finished the event in 13th place with a combined score of 67-over par 919.
2009 MIZZOU TIGER INTERCOLLEGIATE: The Wildcats fired a 10-over par 874 at the Tiger Intercollegiate to take home the championship at the par 72, 7221-yard Club at Old Hawthorne. With the win the Wildcats became the first Kansas State team in 23 years to win four tournaments in a single season.
The Wildcats were led by Mitchell Gregson, who finished in a tie for third place after shooting a 2-under par 214. Kyle Smell finished in a career best e for sixth place after carding a 1-over par 217.
HOST - THE CLUB AT OLF HAWTHORNE: The University of Missouri will host the 15-team field at The Club at Old Hawthorne. Opened in the spring of 2007, the 18-hole layout spans 6,204 yards and is a par 72.
