Trio of Former Cats Shine on Pro Circuit
MANHATTAN, Kan. - With the spring golf season underway, many former Kansas State golfers have been having success on the professional tours.
Aaron Watkins, a 2004 graduate, advanced to a playoff at the PGA Nationwide Tour's Pacific Rubiales Bogotá Open in Columbia. Watkins, who carded a final-round 3-under par 68 to tie Steve Pate at 11-under 273, lost in the playoff. The second-place finish earned Watkins $64,800. In four events this season on the Nationwide Tour, Watkins is sixth on the money list with $73,773. A 2006 graduate, Ben Kern is competing at a high level on The Gateway Tour. Kern finished in eighth place last week at the Desert Winter Seven. Kern won $3,500 in the event, which pushed him over $15,000 mark in the seven events.
