LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Kansas State sophomore Aaron Watkins shot a 6-over-par 78 to tie for 96th place after the first round of the NCAA Central Regional Golf Championships at the par-72, 7,103-yard Pleasant Valley Country Club.

Ten teams and two individuals from the Central Regional will advance to the championship finals on May 29-June 1 at Ohio State University's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.

Big 12 runner-up Oklahoma State led the team scoring, claiming first place with a 1-under-par 287. Two strokes behind the Cowboys are Big 12 schools Kansas and Oklahoma, who are tied for second at 289. In the individual race, TCU's Bret Guetz and OU's John Kidwell fired 4-under-par 68s to tie for first place.
