LAREDO, Texas. – The K-State men’s golf team completed the final round of the Border Olympics Saturday and finished in 14th place at the par 72, 7,319-yard Laredo Country Club.

“There was a little less wind today but it was a little more challenging with the pin placements,” said head coach Tim Norris. “There was not a whole lot here that if you did not drive it in the fairway you did not have a chance to birdie.”
The Arkansas Razorbacks, ranked 18th in the nation, took home the overall team title at the tournament, carding an overall 32-under par 832 and a 9-under par 279 during today’s final round.

“Thomas played really solid; he had two birdies and one bogey,” said Norris. “The only bogey was from a three-putt from 30 feet.”
“All of the guys played good in stretches but we were just not able to put together a good team score today to be able to move up,” said Norris.
Watson carded a 5-over 77 during the final round and an 8-over 224 for the tournament. Juffer carded a 1-over par 73 during the final round today finishing with an overall 5-over par 221. “I feel that we inched up a little bit from our last tournament in Fresno, not a lot but overall we had some good play,” Norris said. “We will have another week of work and head off to Arizona to play there next Monday and Tuesday.”
The Wildcats will see action Monday and Tuesday, April 4 and 5, at the Talking Stick Golf Course in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the Cowboy Classic.
