MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein picked up his fourth honor in the past three days as he was selected as the Maxwell Award Player of the Week for his performance at No. 13 West Virginia, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday.

Klein earned Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors on Sunday, while he was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and was one of 16 quarterbacks named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award on Monday.

A preseason candidate for the Maxwell Award, Klein accounted for seven touchdowns in the Wildcats' 55-14 victory Saturday against the Mountaineers. He threw for a career-high 323 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-21 aim and carded four rushing touchdowns to break both the school's career record (47) and the FBS quarterback record for rushing touchdowns in consecutive seasons (41).

The Maxwell Award is presented annually to America's most outstanding collegiate football player. Each week during the 2012 college football season, the Maxwell Football Club will select a Player of the Week in recognition of outstanding performance in the previous weekend's games.

No. 3 Kansas State faces another top-15 team in 14th-ranked Texas Tech on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The sold-out contest, which is FOX's College Football Game of the Week, kicks off a 2:30 p.m., and can be heard on the K-State Sports Network as well as SIRIUS Satellite Radio channel 85 and XM channel 85.
