MANHATTAN, Kan. – Bill Snyder Family Stadium will be at full capacity for the second time in three home games on Saturday as K-State officials announced Friday that all remaining tickets to the UCF game are sold out.
Saturday’s sellout crowd will mark the first time since 2004 that two Wildcat home games in the same season have been at full capacity and the first time since 1999 that two non-conference home matchups drew crowds of more than 50,000.
Following a season-opening record crowd of 51,059 for the UCLA game, the Wildcats played in front of 48,672 against Missouri State. With more than 50,000 expected on Saturday, the school record of 143,744 for the first three home non-conference games, set back in 2000, is well within reach.
“We appreciate the support of Wildcat Nation and are looking forward to an electric environment on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium,” Athletics Director John Currie said. “Campus will be buzzing with activity as families from all over the country visit during University Family Day, and we encourage fans to arrive early to the stadium as Fort Riley Day festivities will begin approximately one hour prior to kickoff.”
Saturday’s game with UCF will be televised nationally by FSN with kickoff set for 11:40 a.m. Fort Riley Day activities at the stadium will begin one hour prior to kick with the arrival of more than 800 marching soldiers into the stadium.
But fans should get the biggest bang out of the activities when the Wildcats are welcomed to the field thunderously to the firing of “Old Thunder,” a Revolutionary War-era cannon set in the northeast corner of the stadium, and machine gun fire from two High Mobility Mounted Wheeled Vehicles stationed near the home team ramp in the north end zone.
Representatives from Riley County and Fort Riley will sign their Army Community Covenant at halftime, which will also feature the K-State ROTC Pershing Rifle group.
Also, as part of Member Appreciation Day, the Ahearn Fund will host two events surrounding Saturday’s game. The Annual Ahearn Fund Steak Fry will begin at 9 a.m. on the concourse of Bramlage Coliseum and will feature steak and eggs, the K-State band and cheerleaders. The cost is $20/person and is open to any member of the Ahearn Fund. Members can RSVP by calling the Ahearn Fund office at 888-232-9074. A limited number of tickets will also be available for purchase at the door by showing an Ahearn Fund membership card and members are asked to enter through the NW Bramlage doors.
Immediately following the game, the Ahearn Fund will also host the annual 5th Quarter event on the Bramlage Coliseum concourse featuring a free dessert buffet for all members of the Ahearn Fund. Entry is through either the NW or NE Bramlage doors.
Although all tickets are sold out for Saturday, which include approximately 1,600 that were donated by Wildcat fans to military personnel, fans can still purchase tickets to the Cats’ remaining three home contests this season, including matchups with Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Texas. The west side will call at the stadium opens at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, while the east side will call will open at 9:30 a.m.
For more information or to purchase other game tickets, fans can call the ticket office at 1-800-221-CATS, visit the new and improved k-statesports.com or stop by the ticket office in Bramlage Coliseum, which is now open 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
