MANHATTAN, Kan. – With just two weeks left before the football season opener, more than 1,500 Wildcat fans got their first glimpse of the 2012 Wildcats as well as the West Stadium Center construction progress Saturday as K-State held its annual Fall Football Kickoff.

The evening’s activities, which included an open practice and autograph session, wrapped up the Wildcats’ fall training camp as classes begin at K-State on Monday. K-State’s 2012 season opener is 14 days away as the Wildcats host Missouri State on September 1.

Head coach Bill Snyder introduced the 2012 senior class, coaching staff and had each captain address the crowd. Snyder then took a seat at the 50-yard line and signed autographs until the last fan was remaining.

“As I have said many times, our coaches and players are greatly appreciative of our fans and entire support base,” Snyder said. “Kansas State University is a very unique place, and I appreciate so very much the support and passion of the people here that make it so special.”

Senior quarterback and team captain Collin Klein echoed Snyder’s comments and is looking forward to the sold-out season opener on September 1.

“I am so thankful for these past five years,” Klein said. “When I arrived here as a freshman I knew that Kansas State and the K-State people were special, but I had no idea that my experience would be as wonderful as it has been. Again, I am so grateful to be a part of this family and we as a program are looking forward to the season, beginning September 1.”

K-State opens the 2012 season at 6 p.m., September 1 against Missouri State. The season opener is sold out, but a very limited number of seats remain for the North Texas, KU, Oklahoma State and Texas games while great seats are still available for the highly-anticipated matchup with Miami on September 8 and the October 27 Homecoming game with Texas Tech.

To purchase tickets fans can visit the ticket office online at www.kstatesports.com, call the ticket office by phone at (800) 221-CATS, or purchase in person at the Bramlage Coliseum Ticket Office between 8:30 a.m., and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
