MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State will host a special football alumni reunion on September 5 as part of the “K-State Family Reunion” celebration of head coach Bill Snyder’s return to the sidelines.
The alumni reunion is one of several activities planned around the centerpiece of the weekend – the 2009 season opener against UMass at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
“Since my arrival in Manhattan on June 7, I have been tremendously impressed with the passion of the extended K-State family,” Athletics Director John Currie said. “Our former athletes form the core of the family, and I look forward to welcoming them back to campus. We want to show the Big 12 and the nation that the Kansas State spirit is as strong as ever as we fill Bill Snyder Family Stadium with 50,000 fans on September 5.”
Returning football alumni will have the opportunity on Friday, September 4, to tour the K-State athletic facilities, attend the weekly Cat Bowl and wrap up the day with a reception in the KansasStateCars.com Club level of Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
On Saturday, the group will have an optional early-riser workout at the Vanier Complex followed by a tour of the building. A presentation in the team room of Vanier, followed by a pregame tailgate in Cat Town and the opportunity to watch pregame warm-ups at the stadium, wrap up the festivities prior to the 6:10 p.m. kickoff.
Each alumnus will also receive up to four complimentary game tickets as well as a numbered game jersey, courtesy of Dave Dreiling and GTM Sportswear, and will be recognized during the season-opening contest.
For more information on the event or to RSVP, football alumni are encouraged to contact Andrew Hamor in the Ahearn Fund office at (785) 532-7984 or firstname.lastname@example.org as well as Inge Jorgensen in the K-State Football office at (785) 395-2681.
Both season and single-game tickets for the 2009 football season remain available to the general public, including individual tickets for as low as $20 for the UMass game.
