Former Wildcat great Joe Gordon, a defensive back from 1993-96, returned to Kansas State in 2009 and enters his fourth season as the director of recruiting operations. In his position, Gordon assists with the day to day operations of the football program and organizes and oversees K-State's recruiting efforts.
An All-American cornerback in 1995 as a junior, Gordon came to Kansas State from the private sector, where he has worked in various capacities over the previous 11 years, most recently as a partner at MWA Employee Benefits, LLC, and the owner of Joe Gordon Sports Training.
After receiving his bachelor's degree in criminology from K-State in 1996, Gordon spent the 1997 season with the St. Louis Rams before heading to NFL Europe in 1998 where he played for the Rhein Fire.
While at Kansas State, Gordon was a two-time All-Big Eight selection after stellar seasons as a sophomore and junior. Gordon, a native of Arlington, Texas, and a preseason All-American, played in just four games as a senior in 1996 as he suffered an injury to his leg.
During his sophomore season in 1994, Gordon became the first sophomore cornerback since 1984 to earn first team all-conference honors after he totaled 50 tackles and 11 pass breakups. He followed that with a 48-tackle junior season with 13 pass breakups en route to All-America honors. As a junior, Gordon allowed just 12 completions after lining up in man coverage a total of 332 times and helped the Wildcat pass defense rank third nationally with a 136.8 yard-per-game average through the air.
Joe and his wife Angela have four sons, LeAndrew, Sergio, Xavier and Diesel.
