K-State Plays BYU in West Regional Second Round Saturday
No. 2 seed Kansas State (27-7, 11-5 Big 12) will play No. 7 seed BYU (30-5, 13-3 Mountain West) in the West Regional Second Round on Saturday night at approximately 7:10 p.m. CT at the Ford Center.  The winner will earn a spot in the Regional Semifinals to be held Thursday, March 25 at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It will mark the team's 35th game of the season, which will tie the 2006-07 squad for the most in school history.  Starts by Denis Clemente, Curtis Kelly and Jacob Pullen on Saturday would give them 35 in a single-season, which would tie David Hoskins (2006-07) for the most. 

The Wildcats continued their school-record season for wins on Thursday with their 27^th in an 82-62 victory over No. 15 seed North Texas.  The win ended the Mean Green's winning streak at 11 games, which was tied for the third-longest in the country.  The squad used a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures as well as a stifling defensive effort to earn their second NCAA Tournament win in the last three seasons.  The team held North Texas to its second fewest points of the season on just 30.8 percent shooting, including just 20.8 percent in the first half, while scoring 17 points off of 16 turnovers.  Senior Denis Clemente led K-State with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-7 effort from 3-point range, to go with a team-high six assists, while juniors Curtis Kelly and Jacob Pullen added 15 points each.  It marked the 24^th time this season that at least four players scored in double figures with the Wildcats holding a 21-3 mark in those contests.  Pullen has now scored in double figures in 34 consecutive games, while Clemente has done so in 15 straight times.

At NCAA Championship
K-State is making its 31st postseason appearance, which includes 24 in the NCAA Tournament and seven in the National Invitational Tournament.  It marks the fourth consecutive postseason appearance for the Wildcats and the first in the NCAA Tournament since going 1-1 at the 2008 Midwest Regional at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb.  The four straight postseason trips are the most since the school advanced to the NCAA Tournament each season from 1987 to 1990.  The program has posted a 29-27 (.509) all-time record in NCAA Tournament play, including a 3-3 mark in second round games.  Thursday's win marked the 20th time (in 24 appearances) that the Wildcats have won a game at the NCAA Tournament, including the second time in the last three seasons.  Saturday's game will mark the second time that the Wildcats have faced a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, losing to New Mexico, 69-48, in the first round of the 1996 East Regional on March 15 in Richmond, Va.    

The school is making its fifth appearance in the West Regional and the first since 1987 with a 9-6 record all-time.  The No. 2 seed is the highest for K-State since seeding began in 1979, surpassing the previous high of a No. 4 seed in 1988.  It marks just the sixth time that that Wildcats have earned a seeding of eight or better in the NCAA Tournament.  In the program's 23 previous NCAA Tournaments, the squad has advanced to the Sweet 16 a total of 16 times, reached 11 Elite Eights, made four Final Four appearances (1948-1951-1958-1964) and played in one NCAA title game (1951).

Series History with BYU
This will be the seventh all-time meeting between Kansas State and BYU on the hardwood with the all-time series tied at 3-all.  The series dates all the way back to 1951 when the Wildcats earned a 64-54 win in the semifinals of the NCAA Western Regional in Kansas City, Mo., on March 23 en route to their second Final Four appearance in school history.  The teams then met in back-to-back seasons in 1958 and 1959 with the Cougars winning 77-68 in Provo in 1958 and the Wildcats earning an 86-55 win in Lawrence, Kan., at Allen Fieldhouse in 1959.  The schools met in Provo in 1971 and 1973 with BYU winning 78-72 and K-State earning a 95-85 victory.  They have not played since the Cougars posted a 73-64 win at the Paradise Jam Tournament in the Virgin Islands on Nov. 23, 2002.      

Postgame Notes vs. North Texas
--Kansas State earned its 29th NCAA Tournament win, including second in the last three seasons, with its 82-62 win over North Texas... The 20-point victory was the third-largest in an NCAA Tournament game and the largest in an NCAA game since beating DePaul, 102-70, in 1959... The team also beat Oklahoma State, 68-44, in 1951... The Wildcats improved to 1-0 as a No. 2 seed and to 1-0 against No. 15 seeds... The team moved to 6-1 all-time against North Texas, including five consecutive wins in the series. 

--The victory also gave the Wildcats 27 wins, extending the school-record for wins... The previous mark for wins was 25 coming in the 1950-51 and 1987-88 seasons... The team has posted 20 or more wins for the fourth consecutive season, which is a first for the school.

--The Wildcats posted their 20th 80-point game of the season... They are 19-1 when scoring 80 or more points in a game this season... The team shot 50.8 percent from the field, including 57.7 percent in the second half... It marked the eighth time this season that the squad has shot 50 percent or better in a game, including the first time since shooting 53.3 percent in an 83-68 win at Oklahoma on Feb. 20... Four Wildcats scored in double figures led by Denis Clemente's 17 points... It marked the 24^th time that has had four or more players in double figures.

--The squad dominated the paint, holding a 46-21 edge on points in the paint... It marked the ninth time that the team has scored 40 or more points in the paint, including the first since the Colorado game on Feb. 13... The 46 points in the paint are the third-most this season.

--K-State held North Texas to its second-fewest points and fewest since scoring 56 against Arkansas State on Jan. 2, while its 17 field goals were the fewest this season... The Mean Green shot just 30.9 percent from the field, including 20.8 percent in the first half, and just 26.3 percent from 3-point range... It marked the fourth-lowest shooting percentage by an opponent this season and the lowest since Xavier hit on just 29.4 percent on Dec. 8, 2009... The team also held Loyola Chicago to just 24.6 percent from the field and Western Illinois to just 28.8 percent.

--K-State posted a 40-36 advantage in rebounding, including 23 defensive boards... It marked the 15^th time that the squad has had at least 40 rebounds in a game... The team is now 21-2 this season when out-rebounding an opponent... Dominique Sutton led all players with eight rebounds, marking the team-leading 12^th time he has led the squad in rebounding and 23^rd overall in his career.

--K-State scored 17 points off of 16 North Texas turnovers, marking the 23^rd time that the squad has scored at least 15 points off of opponent turnovers... The team is 21-1 in such games.

--Senior Denis Clemente posted 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, with a game-high six assists... It marked the 10th time that he has led the team in scoring... He has scored in double figures in 31 of 34 games, including a streak of 15 consecutive games... He had at least five assists in a game for the 32nd time in his career, while he led the team in assists for the 61st time... He had at least three 3-point field goals in a game for the 14th time this season.

--Junior Jacob Pullen posted 15 points on 5-of-11 field goals, including 2-of-6 from 3-point range... It marked the 34th consecutive game that he has scored in double figures, which is the second-longest streak in school history behind Mitch Richmond (50)... He has now connected on five or more treys in five games this season... He has scored in double figures in 73 career games, which is tied for the sixth-best in school history with Ed Nealy (1978-82).

--Junior Curtis Kelly tallied 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while he blocked a team-high four shots... He has now scored in double figures in 22 games... He increased his school single-season block total to 65... He has at least two blocks in 16 games.

--Junior Dominique Sutton scored in double figures for the 24th time with 12 points... He has scored in double figures in three of the last four games.

General Team Notes
--Kansas State has now scored a school-record 2,708 points this season... The team has topped 2,500 points for the third consecutive season... The 79.6 point scoring average is the second-highest average in school history since the 1952-53 squad averaged 81.4 points.

--K-State has already set single-season highs for free throws (681), free throws attempted (1025) and blocked shots (167)... The team has the third-highest single season total for steals (251), marking the third straight season that the Wildcats have posted at least 200 steals in a single season... The squad has also dished out 500 assists for the sixth time in history and third time in the last four seasons.

--With 229 3-point field goals, the squad has now posted 200 or more treys for the fifth time in school history, including the third consecutive season... The 229 treys are the second-most in school history and the most since the 1993-94 season had a school-record 246.

--Junior Jacob Pullen is the second player in school history and the first since Steve Henson to tally at least 1,000 points 200 3-pointers, 300 assists and 100 steals in a career... With five treys against Oklahoma State, he became the third player in school history with 200 or more 3-pointers.

--Pullen has now scored 1,430 points in 101 career games, which ranks sixth on the school's all-time scoring chart... He also now has 639 points this season, which is the seventh-highest for single year.
