GO WILDCATS

Dec. 16, 2002

Manhattan, Kan. - Head baseball coach Mike Clark announced Monday the signing of eight players to national letters of intent to play baseball at Kansas State, beginning in 2004. The class includes four junior college transfers and four freshmen.

Among the signees from the junior college ranks are Josh Dent (Bedford, Texas), Trey Felts (Stephenville, Texas), Chris Huseman (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Jeff Walker (Abilene, Texas), while Casey Morgan (Ardmore, Okla.), Ryan Saltzgaber (Abilene, Texas), Brett Scott (Manhattan, Kan.) and Jason Sullivan (Joplin, Mo.) join the squad as freshmen.

"We wanted to get a good mix of high school and junior college players," Clark said. "We feel all eight of these young men not only can come in and contribute right away, but can help our program for years to come. The four pitchers that we signed all have quality arms and fill our needs for next year. Since our infield consists of two seniors and two juniors, we wanted to go out and get some young talent and we feel the three freshman are players we can build our program around. We weren't trying to recruit numbers with this class, we just wanted to get some quality players and we think in all eight instances that we got really good kids."

By position, the class has four pitchers, including three right-handed hurlers, three infielders and one outfielder. The seven signees come from four different states. The Wildcats grabbed four prospects from Texas and one each from Kansas, Missouri, Nevada and Oklahoma. It marks the first time since 1999 that the program has had multiple signees from the Lone Star State.

Bio sketches on each of the eight signees to follow.
