California Collegiate League Cape Cod League Perfect Game Collegiate League Texas Collegiate League Walter Johnson Baseball League K-State Pros Kayvon Bahramzadeh (Rookie Arizona League: AZL Athletics/Oakland): Bahramzadeh, a 24th-round selection this year by Oakland, has not pitched since last Monday for the AZL Athletics of the Rookie Arizona League… The right-hander holds a 1-1 record and a 10.06 ERA in seven games, which includes four starts, while he has issued just three walks and struck out 24 batters… The AZL Athletics lead the east division at 21-9, one game ahead of the AZL Cubs. Justin Bloxom (Double A: Harrisburg/Washington): Bloxom continues to be the everyday third baseman for the Harrisburg Senators of the Double A Eastern League… A 2009 draft pick by Washington, Bloxom doubled against New Hampshire on Wednesday before recording base hits at Trenton on Saturday and Sunday… Bloxom is hitting .220 (29-for-132) in 38 games at the Double A level with six doubles, five home runs and 13 RBI… He was hitting .259 with 13 doubles, 12 homers and 34 RBI for High A Potomac before being promoted… His 12 homers for the P-Nats are still tied for 10th in the Carolina League… Harrisburg is in fifth place in the Eastern League Western Division at 52-57. Jake Brown (Rookie: Bristol/Chicago AL): Brown, a 30th-round selection in this year’s draft by the Chicago White Sox, ended his week with a pair of multi-hit games for the Bristol White Sox of the Rookie Appalachian League… The shortstop singled and walked on Thursday at Kingsport before going 2-for-3 with a RBI against the Mets on Saturday… He also tallied two hits against Elizabethton on Sunday… In 20 games this season, Brown is hitting .200 (13-for-65) with two doubles and four RBI… The White Sox are in fifth place in the west division with a 10-25 record. Jared Goedert (Triple A: Columbus/Cleveland): Goedert has continued a streak of 25-straight games reaching base safely for the Columbus Clippers of the International League… A ninth-round pick by Cleveland in 2006, Goedert has a hit in each of the last 13 games, including Thursday against Toledo when he went 4-for-5 with three doubles and two RBI and Friday when he was 3-for-4 with two more runs driven in… He also recorded a pair of hits, including a home run, with two RBI against Rochester on Saturday… Goedert is hitting .326 in 59 games at the Triple A level with 15 doubles, 10 home runs and 47 RBI… He began 2012 playing for Double A Akron, hitting .395 (49-for-124) with 10 doubles, one triple, five homers and 17 RBI in 35 games… Columbus is in second place in the International League West Division at 59-51. Wade Hinkle (Rookie: Orem/Los Angeles AL): A 27th-round selection by the Los Angeles Angels in this year’s draft, Hinkle continues to shine in the Pioneer League as he has a hit in 11 of his last 12 games for the Orem Owlz… He went 2-for-4 on Wednesday against Missoula and recorded one hit in each of the last three games at Ogden, including a double on Friday and a RBI on Saturday… Hinkle is hitting .326 (44-for-135) in his first 37 games as a professional with 10 doubles, seven home runs and 29 RBI… Hinkle is second in the Pioneer League in runs scored (33), tied for second in home runs, tied for third in walks (25), fourth in OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging percentage; 1.003), tied for fourth in RBI, fifth in total bases (75), sixth in on-base percentage (.447) and slugging percentage (.556), tied for seventh in doubles and 10th in hits… Orem finished the first half of the season in fourth place in the south division at 17-21, while the Owlz are 1-0 during the second half. Kyle Hunter (Low A: Clinton/Seattle): Hunter, a 31st-round draft pick of Seattle last season, threw in relief just one time last week the Clinton LumberKings of the Low A Midwest League… The left-hander allowed three runs on three hits in 2.1 innings against Quad Cities on Thursday… Hunter holds a 1-5 record and a 3.75 ERA in 28 games out of the bullpen, allowing 24 earned runs in 57.2 innings with only six walks and 49 strikeouts… The LumberKings lead the western division during the second half at 21-14, two games ahead of second-place team Burlington. Carter Jurica (High A: San Jose/San Francisco): Jurica has six hits over the last five games for the San Jose Giants of the High A California League… A third-round selection by San Francisco in 2010, Jurica singled and scored at Bakersfield on Thursday before going 3-for-5 with a RBI on Friday at Modesto… He also singled against the Nuts on Saturday before doubling and driving in two runs on Sunday… In 76 games this season, Jurica is hitting .287 with 12 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 38 RBI… The Giants are in fourth place in the north division at 16-21 during the second half and are 54-53 overall. Jason King (Low A: West Michigan/Detroit): A fourth-round pick by Detroit last season, King has reeled off four-straight multi-hit games for the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Low A Midwest League… The third baseman began his streak on Wednesday at Lake County when he was 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI… He then tallied four-straight two-hit games – two against Lake County and two against Bowling Green… He doubled on both Thursday and Sunday, while he tallied a RBI on Friday… King is hitting .255 in 55 games this season with 13 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 21 RBI… The Whitecaps are tied for fourth place in the eastern division at 18-17 during the second half and are four games out of first place… West Michigan holds 54-51 overall record. Dan Klein (Class A Short-Season: Vancouver/Toronto): A 28th-round pick by Toronto this year, Klein played in four games last week for the Vancouver Canadians of the Class A Short-Season Northwest League… The catcher singled and drove in a run against Eugene on Tuesday, while he also tallied a base hit against the Emeralds on Thursday and drove in a run at Everett on Saturday… Klein is hitting .244 (19-for-78) in 24 games this season with four doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI… His four homers are tied for 10th in the Northwest League… The Canadians are tied for third in the west division during the second half at 3-4 and are 25-19 overall. Evan Marshall (Double A: Mobile/Arizona): Marshall, a fourth-round selection by the Arizona Diamondbacks last season, came out of the bullpen twice last week for the Mobile BayBears of the Double A Southern League… The right-hander tossed a scoreless inning with a strikeout on Friday at Mississippi, while he also turned in a scoreless frame Sunday at Jacksonville… Arizona’s Minor League Pitcher of the Month for June, Marshall holds a 5-1 record with a 1.91 ERA and 16 saves, which ranks third in the Southern League… Marshall has allowed just eight earned runs on 38 hits in 37.2 innings with eight walks and 20 strikeouts… Mobile, which won the first-half south division title, is in fifth place in the south division at 14-22 during the second half. Nick Martini (Low A: Quad Cities/St. Louis): Martini, a seventh-round selection of St. Louis last year, played in four games last week for the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Low A Midwest League… The outfielder went 0-for-4 in his first three games before picking up a double at Kane County on Sunday… Martini is hitting .240 in 99 games this season with 12 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 41 RBI… The Crystal Lake, Ill., product ranks second in the Midwest League runs scored (68), while he is tied for third in walks (59)… Quad Cities is fifth in the western division during the second half with a 17-18 mark and is 51-53 overall. A.J. Morris (High A: Daytona/Chicago NL): Morris has turned into the closer for the Daytona Cubs of the High A Florida State League as he has saves in each of his last three outings… A fourth-round draft choice of Washington in 2009, Morris tossed two innings, giving up one run with a walk and three strikeouts, but picked up the save at Brevard County on Tuesday… He then threw a scoreless frame at Bradenton on Friday before shutting out the Marauders over 1.2 innings on Sunday… In 31 games this season, Morris is 4-2 with a 2.75 ERA and three saves… The right-hander has allowed 12 earned runs on 27 hits in 39.1 innings to go along with 12 walks and 32 strikeouts… The Cubs are 16-21 during the second half and 46-59 overall. Carlos Torres (MLB: Colorado): Torres continues to shine out of the bullpen for the Colorado Rockies… Following his three shutout innings last Monday, Torres worked 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five batters, including the first three he faced… A 15th-round pick of the White Sox in 2004, Torres is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 11 appearances for the Rockies, allowing just three runs on six hits with nine walks and 16 strikeouts in 18.0 innings… He has not surrendered a run since June 1, which spans seven outings… Colorado is fifth in the National League West Division at 37-63… Torres has pitched in 14 games for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Triple A) with 13 starts, holding a 5-4 record and a 3.98 ERA. |
